The Sackville Refugee Response Coalition and Mount Allison Student Union’s Social Justice Coordinator are pleased to host a screening of the National Film Board’s Shock Waves.

This documentary follows the journalists of Radio Okapi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as they document the humanitarian crisis in their country following years of civil war. These journalists risk their lives to expose chaos and corruption in their country.

A discussion led by Dr. Dave Thomas, from Mount Allison’s International Relations Department, will follow.

The SRRC is preparing to welcome a refugee family from the DRC in the coming weeks. We hope that this film will help us to understand some of the issues in the DRC. Please note that this film might not be suitable for children.
